Health Requirements and Services in Kiribati

Requirement: A yellow fever vaccination certificate is required from travellers coming from infected areas. Once in the country, visitors are advised not to drink unboiled well water. Hepatitis is prevalent and it is wise to take precautions if staying for any length of time.

Services: The Tungaru Central Hospital at Nawerewere, on South Tarawa, provides medical services in an emergency. Contact telephone (686) 28 100. A pharmacy is located at the hospital but visitors are advised to bring their own medicine with them. A dental service is available at both hospitals in Nawerewere and Betio. Clinics centres are established on most of the outer islands.
